Day Trippin'

We were all getting a little antsy at my parents house and we decided it would be a good idea to get a late lunch in a nearby town, Fredericksburg, VA. This town is beyond adorable! I have never really spent much time there, but, I'm already itching to go back. The main street is quaint, the stores are cute and it all looks like it probably did in the early 1900's minus the horse and carriages. We ate at a GREAT place called Foode, I highly recommend. The staff was amazing, the ambiance was sweet and the food, YUM! Here are some pics for you to enjoy. You can also read some amazing things about Fredericksburg and it's history with the Civil War, George Washington's farm nearby and lots of other incredible tidbits, here

Happiest Of Holidays!

Merry Christmas, Everyone! I hope you all had such a wonderful time celebrating, being with family and eating too many cookies. I know I did all of the above!
I didn't take too many photos this year -- I decided to practice "mindfullness" and really soak in Maddie's FIRST CHRISTMAS! It was lovely and I think she really enjoyed being among her cousins and opening presents.
Here is our Holiday Card that we sent out this year. I think we nailed the first year of parenthood with this one.
This one is my favorite... little Mads getting read "Twas The Night Before Christmas" by her Papa. Sitting there also is one of her cousins, Luke. I was amazed how into it she was. Must help with all the funny voices Papa uses. I need to incorporate that into my night time book reading for her!
And, here is how Macaroni was most of the holiday. Hiding under the table hoping, just HOPING to get some scraps. What a goober.
Bring on 2015 -- I'm READY!

Weekend WrapUp

We headed to Asheville, NC this past weekend and it was adorably adorable. Scott ended up taking a really, really, really long way there and I nearly busted out of the car once we arrived. There is nothing worse than being on small windy roads in the middle of nowhere with a 6 month old. But, before I get too upset remembering, I'll just start posting photos. I wish I had more, but, they are very strict about not taking ANY photos inside the home. I typically don't listen to rules, but, I was so side tracked by it's beauty, I actually stayed in the moment of being there and witnessing rather than documenting. It was awesome.

That last photo of Mads reaching for her Daddy's beer is my favorite. She is just so funny with him. They already have their own way of relationg to each other and she is MUCH rougher with him. I love it. Scott also recently shaved his big burly beard and she did NOT know what to think of that. She kept touching his face as if she didn't know who he was right away. Too cute.
I can't wait to head back to Asheville this spring. There is a great wine tasting village on the property that we didn't get to enjoy and the town has what looks like some great art galleries. Not to mention the gardens will be in full bloom too! It will be gorgeous!

What I Currently Can't Live Without

Having a 6 month old, a full time job and building a business doesn't leave you with a lot of time for yourself. However, there is one thing that I ALWAYS try to put on my face, since time for makeup is totally out of the question (sorry, Husband). I'd like to introduce you to Origins VitaZing Energy Boosting Moisturizer. It truly is the greatest moisturizer that I have EVER used for a few reasons...
1. It feels really good putting on.
2. It doesn't have a strong smell.
3. It gives my face a natural tint that it desperately needs since I'm sleep deprived, like whoa.
4. The price isn't outrageous, so I feel good about the semi splurge.
I promise you that this is not an ad -- it really is on my list of things I do not go out of the house without. I mean, sometimes, I forget my keys, wallet, dogs breakfast, but, you better believe I remembered to put VitaZing on my face!
You can find it here or on Amazon, here

Thanksgiving

Did everyone have a great Thanksgiving? I sure did.

We went to my parents house in the middle of nowhere, Virginia and ate too much, laughed too much and didn't relax enough! We did however, find time for a cute family picture.

It was VERY cold over the weekend, but, we did find ourselves outside a lot. Its always nice to sit on a dock no matter the weather. I'm my opinion at least.
Hope everyone had a wonderful time with family and had big full bellies.
Cheers!

Sissy Visits

I LOVE when my super awesome sissy comes down from the big city (NYC) to my small town here in North Carolina. I get all excited and want to cook and bake her everything, but then, she gets here and we end up going to our favorite places and getting BBQ instead.
Here are a few pics of us at our favorite place, The Porch. We went for brunch and really, I ate WAY too much. Its so easy to do there as the food is delicious. The bloody mary's were pretty spectacular too!

Mads sure does love having her "Fairy God Mother" visits. I love them more!

Nanny Notes

Nanny Adventures: Intro

For two months now I have been nannying for one of the most awesome families I have ever met.
When I started I understood that I would be watching the most precious baby girl in the world and
helping Carrie with 9Months. What I didn’t understand was that it would take approximately 2 weeks
to fall in love with Madeleine, I would gain a new four legged best friend, and I would miss the smell of
regurgitated Similac baby formula on the weekends.

A typical (six or seven hour) day in the life of trying to please Maddie Love consists of: giving her roughly
five bottles, changing about four diapers, and the ever daunting task of trying to warm a bottle before
her screaming reaches a record high decibel level. On a not so typical day you may find me sanding/
staining wooden pallets so they can be turned into a headboard, driving to the mall to buy numerous
candles, or making a DJ spin table out of cardboard (all during naptime, of course).

To sum up my first ever blog post, I will leave you with an incomplete list of things I have learned in my

two months as a nanny...
• Maddie is ALWAYS hungry
• EVERYTHING has been covered in spit up at one point (including Macaroni’s head)
• Animals love to eat spit up, normal humans gag when they smell it on your shirt after work
• Smiles are so rewarding

And a picture to show you my typical day...

Today... One Year Ago

Today is a hard day for me.

Today, two years ago, I lost my 39 week baby girl two days before her due date.
Today, two years ago, I had to call my parents to tell them what happened.
Today, two years ago, I had to check into the hospital to give birth to a stillborn.
Today, two years ago, I had to hear that there was no reason as to why.
Today, two years ago, I had to hear I was going to have a baby but not bring her home.
Today, two years ago, I birthed an 8 pound beautiful baby girl.
Today, two years ago, I held her, kissed her and told her that she's beautiful.
Today, two years ago, I gave her to the nurse to never see her again.
Today, two years ago, I cried more tears than I ever thought were possible.
Today, two years ago, I never thought I'd be OK again.

Today, one year ago, I found out I was pregnant.
Today, one year ago, my husband and I cried tears of sadness for our 1st daughter and tears of joy for our 2nd chance.
Today, one year ago, I convinced myself to NOT be scared.
Today, one year ago, I told myself that I was going to do my best to be positive.

Today, I have a beautiful baby girl named Madeleine Love
Today, I hold her and never want to put her down.
Today, I look at her and see her sister's face.
Today, I smile, I laugh, and love waking up in the morning.
Today, I'm thankful my husband and I stuck together through the hardest times in our lives.

TODAY, I never thought I could be happier.

While my wounds will never heal, It's so wonderful to love my life again.

Starting to Blog

I used to have a blog that I updated nearly everyday and I really, really enjoyed it. I would post photos about my life and what I was doing and then share some thoughts, here and there.
Because I have missed that part of my life, I decided to go ahead and start that up again... here!
So feel free to follow along, comment, share ideas, etc. Id love to hear from you!
I just ask that people be kind. I will erase comments that aren't. This is a positive site and I'll do my best to keep it that way.
Cheers, everyone!
